The State Church and the earthworm

In an era when great parts of the Bible are politically incorrect a Christian has three alternatives; open conflict, underground activities and submission and adaptation. For a long time, the state church of Norway has been unlimited in its flexibility. Joint prayer with Muslims, full acceptance of homosexuality and submission to the emperor (the state) has replaced the Christian brotherhood in spite of the Bibles condemning mention of this. All seven deadly sins are represented in the state church and it's accepted as common and trivial under the description "diversity". To draw away attention from their obvious golden calf-worshipping, the church chooses to profile itself on issues which seem increasingly meaningless seen in the light of what is supposed to be their guiding book, by the church itself described to be "Words of God". In this search for harmless issues and diversions, the church has found a new, ground-breaking strategy which can be called underground activity, but not in a way that fulfills the concepts meaning or the hopes of many Christians.

In the end of March, the Norwegian state church received 500 000kr. from the Department of Environment for their project "Green Congregations". Around the same time, Bellona (an active and professional environmental orginization)  was informed that their grants are cut by 200 000 down to 700 000 kroner.

-"The church's thinking in the environment area is so exiting. This is for me a political priority", said minister of environment protection, Knut Arild Hareide, to Aftenposten.

-The money is to be used for concrete things, such as developing environmentally friendly memorial wreaths which are more bio-degradable, and working with lawns. And they shall go to influencal activity that will bring out the church's green side, the Krf-cabinet minister (Kristelig Folkeparti = Christian Peoplesparty) explains.

According to the project application, money will also be spent on further development and operation of the Church's environment homepages. These pages have a content that may be a bit strange to the environment movement. Among other things, a special environment-prayer for earthworms is launched:

"God, we thank you for the degraders, the blind workers under ground" and "May God bless you, little brothers and sisters (is the church aware that earthworms are hermaphrodites? -our comment) in the compost, members of the underground assembly."

-I am upset, but we have no friends in the Department of Environment, says the leader of "Bellona", Frederic Hauge, in a comment. According to Hauge, Bellona has received a total of 1,75millions (kr.) from the department over the 19 years it has existed.
