Tadic wins
Conflict Beograd, 04.02.08 Serbs longing for capitalism in all its glory reelected Boris Tadic in Sundays election in Serbia. During his campaign, Tadic expressed that he had no plans of giving up Kosovo by supporting the Albanian immigrants call for independence. He is, however, viewed as two-faced by many Serbs as they are well aware that Tadics EU-policy will mean just that; the EU-membership proclaimed as the primary goal of Tadic cannot be fulfilled without letting EU have its way with the Serbian lands in question. 47 % of Serbs, who voted for national solidarity and its candidate; Tomislav Nikolic, see this as treason against the Serbs left behind in small pockets in Kosovo and Metohija. Though reduced to 1/3 of the population prior to the NATO-bombing, 100 000 Serbs are refusing to leave the cradle of Serb civilization and is defying ethnic cleansing through rape, murder and humiliation brought upon them by the Albanians and the NATO-forces.
The presidency of Serbia is more one of serimonial function, but the president is also the commander in chief of the armed forces. The Albanian "declaration of independence" regarding Kosovo is expected within weeks and as the NATO-forces pull out according to plan, the 100 000 civilian Serbs are left completely defenseless with an army-commander more interested in joining the capitalists in Brussels than his own population. A repetition of the events of 2004, when thousands of Serbs were killed or driven out of Kosovo and Metohija during March 13th and 14th is expected.
Tadic received 51 % of the votes, proclaiming Monday that by electing him "Serbia has shown its great democratic potential". This must be seen as another adaptation to the "free West", where the classic understanding of the state is highly similar to that of Luis XXIV; "Democracy, that is me!".
