Who burned Copenhagen?

Last weekend parts of Copenhagen literally went up in smoke. In the late hrs of the 2. of March antiracists attacked cars, schools, police officers and bystanders. The Danish and Norwegian press explains this as a battle over "Ungdomshuset" an antiracist headquarters in Copenhagen. "Ungdomshuset" (House of the Youth) has been occupied over the last decades by antiracist youth, though occupied in the sense that the city of Copenhagen has been paying for water and electricity, not shutting them down as would be the case if anyone else refused to pay their bills. The house has been kept in a not very satisfying sanitary condition and has been a refuge above the law for anyone wanting to buy or sell drugs.

- The Norwegian press is working hard, also in what images they show the public, to portray the cleanup in Copenhagen as police brutality..

Any last remains of sympathy the antiracists had in the general population of Copenhagen burned down together with the cars and schools belonging to the same population. As the riots fought their way into the early hours of Saturday the 4th some of the bystanders - or rather bysitters - started throwing water onto the antiracists rioting below. The same action was taken by the Copenhageners during the riot in 1944 in protest against German occupational government.

- Closer to the truth. Picture taken before the "police brutality".

Even though the police was well aware of the riots in advance and were prepared accordingly, the situation soon came out of control. The reason for this miscalculation on behalf of the Danish police is said to have been that the antiracists got reinforcements from gangs of alien background. Even Danish journalists not wearing the antiracist uniform were forced to throw missiles at the police forces by the gangs who showed great suspicion towards anyone being Danish, on the scene and not taking part in the battle.

- Even closer to the truth. Alien gang members attacking Danish society alongside their allies, the Scandinavian and German antiracists.

Copenhagen has since long been in an apartheid-like city. There are areas were the gangs rule the grounds and even the police think twice before intervening in the criminal activities going on in these areas. It can be directly life-threatening for a white man, and certainly a white woman, to enter the "wrong" clubs in Copenhagen.

Gunfights broke out between Danish and alien youth a couple of years ago, as an alien had killed the best friend of the Danish heavyweight boxer Brian Nielsen, and the latter expressed racist views in a major Danish newspaper. Outside the court where the preliminary hearing were held the next day, alien youth opened fire on the friends of Nielsen with handguns, who returned fire with a deuce.

As the antiracists now team up with criminals and gang members and attack more or less all of Copenhagen there is reason to believe that the street power that the Danish antiracists have had for the last decades is slipping through their fingers, destroyed by their own aggressiveness. However, the gangs stand ready to fill the void as the upper-ten-antiracist teenagers now move on to well paid positions as journalists and within the government.

Even though the antiracists promised further struggle and riots the police were able to call out the real working class and tear the old ""House of youth" down, only accompanied by whimpering from small groups of teenagers with mohawks and "I hate society" leather jackets.

As gangs usually come out at night, and most of the leading members of these gangs were arrested the night before there were no attempts to storm the police positions, only a block from where the teardown took place.

- The working class at work. The company hired to tear down the antiracist HQ had their surplus repainted silver to avoid retaliation from the upper ten.

A younger group of antiracists, probably in an effort to come out like more than the kids they are, occupied an old wreck of an empty industrial-building in another part of the city. The "new" headquarters does not have running water or power, and it will be interesting to see if the city of Copenhagen ensures that the spoiled kids from uptown get the sanitary systems and power up and running their second time around.

There were a couple of Norwegian SOS racism-members among the arrestees. While they were eating breakfast in the cells in Copenhagen, their comrades in Oslo and a very spears riot outside the Danish embassy. A couple of police cruisers were damaged and a law enforcement officer was slightly hurt. The damage to the cruisers comes to around 100 000 NOK according to Conflicts observers at the scene, cash that is needed to secure the women of the Norwegian capitol in the rape-spree currently out folding itself. As usual the Norwegian police were slightly less potent compared to their Danish colleagues and made no arrests.
